Standard Federal Ups
Dividend Rate to 4 1/4 Pct.
Compounded Quarterly

The board of directors of Stand-
ard Federal Savings and Loan As-
sociation today voted a dividend
rate increase on all savings ac-
counts from 4 per cent to 4 1/4 per
cent, effective Jan. 1.
Announcing the increase, Robert
J. Hutton, president of the 72-
year-old association, said: "The
move to 4 1/4 per cen twas prompted
by the recent increases of the
value in money in the market place
stimulated by the active economy
of the nation, creating a strong
demand for funds in all sectors.
It is also in keeping with our
policy of paying the highest rate
on savings consistent with safety
and availability."
Emphasizing the protection and
safety of funds provided by Stand-
ard Federal, Hutton pointed out
that the association will make sub-
stantial additions to its reserves
this year. Standard Federal's total
reserves and surplus exceed $23,-
000,000.00 and now total 7.66 per
cent of the savings, well above the
requirements set by federal super-
visory agencies. Present liquid as-
sets of Standard Federal total over
11 per cent of savings and are also
in excess of regulatory require-
ments.
