I had read his book, "The Great
Cryptogram," she was overwhelmed
with joy and I too was pleased
to meet her. I had been much in-
terested in the career of Don-
nelly, who was one of the first
to question the authorship of the
Shakespearean plays.

I felt I was reading a short
story recently when sitting in the
Automat opposite the Grand Cen-
tral Station, with a cup of coffee
and an Israeli newspaper, a man
came up to me, evidently having
noted the Hebrew letters on the
paper and asked me where he
could get a Yiddish paper. We got
to talking and he told me he was
waiting for his wife. They had
been abroad for a vacation and now
were returning to Los Angeles.
His wife would fly there, but he
said he was afraid to fly, so he
would have to "moochin sich" for
four or five days on the train,
while his wife got there in a few
hours.
It is "beshert," he went on sadly
to say, for some people to "moo-
chin" themselves all their lives
and he guessed he was one of
those unfortunates.
