ATLANTIC CITY — The
Mizrachi Women's Organization of
America adopted a budget of $1,-
335,000 to meet child care, social
service and vocational education
needs in Israel during the next
12 months and to continue its ed-
ucational and cultural activities in
the United States during the corn-
ing year.
The budget was approved at the
organization's 40th annual na-
tional convention here attended by
some 1,000 delegates.
The convention also approved a
$350,000 project involving a five-
stage effort through the Jewish
National Fund to redeem Mount
Hazon in Israel's Galilee, to be
completed within a three-year
period.
The project will include the
building of two miles of road to
the top of the mountain, which has
an elevation of 200 feet, the plant-
ing of a forest of 75,000 trees, the
erection of a watchtower at the
top of the mountain, the redemp-
tion of 125 acres of land and the
eventual construction of a recrea-
tion park when the area has been
developed for settlement by reli-
gious settlers.
A special allocation of $25,000
was voted by the delegates to ex-
pand the John F. Kennedy Memor-
ial Library in Jerusalem, es-
tablished shortly after the late
president's assassination.
Israel Ambassador A v r a h a m
Harman was among the guest
speakers at the four-day conven-
tion. Senator Wayne Morse of
Oregon was presented with the
organization's 1965 America-Israel
Friendship Award.
Resolutions adopted urged the
U.S. government to continue to
make strong representations to the
Soviet Union on behalf of religious
and cultural freedoms for the Jews
in the USSR and pleged support
to the United Nations convention
against genocide. The women also
voted to support a regional dis-
