kol paid tribute Tuesday to the
recently enacted United States
law opposing the Arab boycott at
ceremonies dedicating the Hilton
Hotel in Tel Aviv.
He also praised the Hilton Corp.
for defying the boycott of Israel
in building the 440-room, 17-story
seafront hotel. He noted with sat-
isfaction that the number of gov-
ernments which publicly de-
nounced the boycott is a growing
one. The law to which he referred
was an amendment to the United
States Export Control Act.
Eshkol also told the gala
opening ceremonies that he
hoped Israel-Arab peace talks
would take place in the near fu-
ture, "perhaps even in a Hilton
Hotel—in Tel Aviv, Cairo or any
other place." He told the 500
guests he hoped they would note
that Israel was "not only a coun-

struggle even in pre-election
days." Parliamentary and muni-
cipal elections are scheduled for

Macmillan Publishes
'Trial of Jack Ruby'

Macmillan

will publish "The

Trial of Juck Ruby" by John Kap-

lan and Jon R. Waltz on Oct. 18.
The volume dissects the personali-
ties, procedures and proprieties in-

volved in the trial of the man who
killed President Kennedy's assas-
sin.

The authors capture the circus-

like atmosphere of the Ruby case.
They describe a trial in which the
defendant paled into insignificance
beside his attorneys, his family,
his psychiatrists, his judge and his
jury. Beginning with the assassi-
nation of the President, the shoot-
ing of Lee Harvey Oswald and
Ruby's arrest, they examine the
life and personality of Ruby.
Kaplan and Waltz discuss the
defense and prosecution strategies,
Texas law, last-minute tactical
changes, the court's charge, the
verdict and the sentence.
Kaplan is professor of law at
Stanford University, formerly at
Northwestern. Waltz is a partner
in a law firm, and professor of law
at Northwestern.
