Successful Beth Aaron Bond Fete Held

At the Beth Aaron pre-High Holy Day leadership recep-
tion hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Jack Shenkman, where over $15,000
in Israel Bonds was subscribed, are (from left) Sam Loberman, vice

Henny Youngman, television
and night-club comedian will head
the program at the Cong. Bnai
David Salute . to Israel Dinner
6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the social
hall.
The dinner will honor Max Os-
trow as Bnai David Man of the
Year. Ostrow has been chairman
of the Chevra Kadisha for 10
years and a member of the board
of trustees of Bnai David for over
30 years.
Max Sosin will be toastmaster at
the dinner on behalf of Israel
Bonds. Rabbi Hayim Donin and
Cantor Hyman J. Adler will give
the tribute to Ostrow. Morris J.
Brandwine and Jack Lieberman
are the dinner co-chairmen, while
Jack J. Kraizman will greet the
guests on behalf of the congrega-
tion.

Corning to this country as a
young boy, Ostrow joined the
U.S. armed forces in the First
World War and served in France
and then with the "Polar Bear"
Division in Archangel, Russia,
where he was severely wounded.
He was visited by President
Woodrow Wilson while hospital-
ized in the Walter Reed Hos-
pital. After his discharge in 1921,
Ostrow brought over his parents,
four sisters and a brother, but
the father died on Ellis Island.

Norbert Reinstein will be the
master of ceremonies.

Weiss, a former president of
Bnai Moshe, has held every of-
fice in the congregation. He is
active in many communal causes
and on behalf of Israel.

Dinner co-chairmen are Norbert
Reinstein and Arthur Boschan.
The dinner committee, still in
formation, is composed of Alfred
Deutsch, Mrs. Alfred Gunsberg,
State Rep. Albert Kramer, Dr.
Jerome Lechner, Irving Lopatin,
Mr. and Mrs. William Morin,
Nathan Sharon and Melvin Weisz.
Rabbi Moses Lehrman will give
the tribute to Weiss, and Cantor
Louis Klein will give the musical
tribute.
