engagement of Arlene Joyce Sher-
man, daughter of Mrs. Fannie
Sherman of Thatcher Ave., and
the late Mr. Reuben Sherman, to
Elliott Irwin Nelson, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Mowry Nelson of Bev-
erly Ave., Oak Park. A late No-
vember wedding is planned.

to Edward L. Morse, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Ben Morse of Free-
port, N.Y. Miss Jones, the grand-
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Abe
Kasle, attended the Grosse Pointe
University School and Goucher
College in Towson, Md., where she
graduated in 1964, magna cum
laude and Phi Beta Kappa. She
is presently assistant technical
director at the American Research
Bureau, Washington, D.C., and is
studying for her masters degree
in psychology at the George
Washington University. Mr. Morse
graduated in 1963 from Johns
Hopkins University where he was
elected to Phi Beta Kappa. At
Johns Hopkins he was president
of Alpha Delta Phi fraternity
and editor of the Johns Hopkins
Newsletter. Mr. Morse is presently
working for his doctorate at Johns
Hopkins School of Advanced In-
ternational Studies in Washington,
D.C. The couple plan an August
wedding in Detroit, after which
they will spend a year in Bologna,
Italy, • where Mr. Morse will be
studying under a grant from the
Italian Foreign Ministry.
