MAY 28. 1952 . . . When Mayor
S. Z. Shragai began to speak at
last week's dinner in his honor,
folks started murmuring about not
being able to understand him . . .
until the mayor of Jerusalem
apologetically stopped and said, "I
forgot I was supposed to speak in
Yiddish." . . . He had been talk-
ing in Hebrew! . . . During the
dinner. Hy Keiden kiddingly ask-
ed the waitress if everything was
kosher . .. The girl looked at him,
then went about her business of
serving and replied, "It sure is-
' everything but me."

ger is the first Michigan fencer
ever to achieve this distinction . . .
His performance in New York in
the national championships. which
also served as the final tryout, won
him a berth on the six-man United

tion by Leonard's pop that some

. . . During a recent evening at
the home of Lucy and Frank

the buffet supper prepared by Lucy
and looked wonderingly at Mrs.
Goldberg . . . until finally he re-'
marked .."Gee, mom, why don't
you cook like Lucy. She doesn't
