The Lomza rosh yeshiva, Rabbi
Yechil Mordecai Gordon, died Dec.
17 in Petah Tikvah, Israel, at age
82.
Known as a brilliant Slobodka
student, Rabbi Gordon was ap-
pointed dean of the Lomza Yeshi-
va in Poland at age 22. He was
one of the first European leaders

to demonstrate his faith in Israel's
future by founding a branch of his
