AFTER MEETING each other
in 1960 at. Sinai Hospital, where
she was working in the Laboratory
and he was doing research, Carole
Lewis and Dr. Leonard Schlain
decided to save money on phone
calls by becoming man and wife
this December . .. They reuukoned
in San Francisco a year later, met
again in Paris a year-and-a-half
after . . and then started the
phone calls . . . keeping up con-
tact between his Army base near
Paris and her travels to Madrid,
Rome, Munich and the Riviera.

THE MANY DOTING relatives
who drove up to the brie in Flint
to welcome the first born son of
Detroit's Myra and Dr. Mike Wit-
tenberg, had to get off at the first
exit of the expressway, which is
Bristol Road ... Being difficult to
find, Myra suggested to her dad,
Ben Bayer, that he paint out
the "tol" in Bristol and just leave
"Bris" to make it easier to find
. . . and of course quite appropd
for the occasion . . . Papa Ben,
however, didn't feel in the mood
to spend the day in jail!
