of Manor Ave. announced the en-
gagement of their daughter
Adrienne Claire to David Sheldon
Kaufman at a recent family dinner.
The bride-elect attended the
University of Michigan and is
presently a senior at Wayne State
University's college of education.
Her fiance, son of the Harry
Kaufmans of Ardmoor Dr., Bloom-
field Hills, attended the Detroit
Institute of Technology and now
studies at the Walsh Institute.

p.m. Tuesday, at the home of Mrs.

Mrs. Harry Weinberg is rally
chairman, and Mrs. Harvey Sibrack
will be chairman of the day.
Mrs. Joseph M. Markel, general
chairman of the celebrity concert,
announces that this is the first of
four concert rallies to be held
prior to the 40th anniversary cele-
brity concert to take place
Nov. 29 at Ford Auditorium.
The concert will feature the De-
troit Symphony Orchestra, under
the baton of Seymour Lipkin as
guest conductor, with Ruth Meck-1
ler-Laredo, pianist, and Joseph
Silverstein, violinist, as soloists.

NEW YORK (JTA)—The Pioneer
Women and the National Commit-
tee for Labor Israel announced
plans to create a $300,000 commu-
nity center in Carmiel, Israel, a
new development town in western
Galilee. The project will signify
the close ties between the Israel
Histadrut Campaign, ending its
40th year, and Pioneer Women.
now celebrating its 40th anniver-
sary.
The center will be a major link
in the network of institutions
serving pioneers and new immi-
grants. Half of the funds for the
center, which will bear the Pioneer
Women's name, will be raised by

recent ceremony at Temple Israel,
solemnized by Rabbis M. Robert
Syme and Leon Fram and Cantor
Harold Orbach.

The bride's peau de soie gown
had a rounded neckline and fitted
bodice. with panels of hand corded
Alencon lace appliqued on the
floor-length sheath skirt. She wore
a pouf veil of silk illusion and a
detachable chapel train, and car-
ried orange blossoms.
Debbie Baskin was her sister's
maid of honor. Bridesmaids in-
cluded Arlen Levine. Judy Wein-
berg, Zail Pearson and Marilyn
Brofman of Cleveland. The bride-
groom's brother Alfred Burstein
served as his best man, and San-
ford Ashman, Jerome Avrush in,
Robert Leichtman and Larry Bas-
kin were the ushers.
