Israeli and French Diplomats to See Israel Bond Show
manufacturers. More than half of
St. Laurent ' s designs have been
created of Israeli textiles, a salute
to the fast growing fashion in-
dustry of the young nation.
Spanning centuries from 130 A.D.
until the present, the 1964 collec-
tion opens with a surprisingly
modern reproduction of a design
worn by women of the Middle East
for nearly 2.000 years, highlighting
the tradition of craftsmanship in
the land and the universal eternal
feminine fashion bond. Among the
Israeli designers represented in
the Detroit premiere are the re-
nowned Lola Beer and Finy Liet-
ersdorf, Alaska, Israel's celebrat-
ed village crafts Industries. fur-
riers Stefan Braun and E l i y a h u
Neulander; rising young Israeli
designers Gideon Oberson, Sabina
Schechter and Marta Vida; the
knitwear houses of Aled, Dorina
and Galia and the leather firms
of Beged-Or and Glovis, Ltd.
Yves St. Laurent, who typifies
Paris, was born in Algeria in
1936. At the age of 19 he became
the collaborator of Dior. When
Dior died in 1957, St. Laurent be-
came the head of the House of
Dior. In 1962 he opened his own
atelier and the House of St. Laur-
ent immediately became famous.
For reservations to the luncheon

chasers of an Israel Bond prior to
