Rusk, Israel Ambassador Discuss Arab Threats

WASHINGTON (JTA) — Secre-
tary of State Dean Rusk met with
Israel Ambassador Avraham Har-
man to discuss the recent Arab
summit conference and the bel-
ligerent threats endangering reg-
ional peace. The meeting was re-
quested by Israel.
It was based on the decision of
the Israel Government to distuss
with friendly nations the implica-
tions of the Cairo developments.

Threats were made at the Arab
conference for military action
against Israel, diversion of water
flowing into the Jordan River,
and for a new, coordinated aggres-
sive Arab multinational buildup
of armed might for use against
Israel. The purpose of the Rusk-
Harman meeting was also to re-
new high-level contacts in the wake
of the visit last summer of Prime
Minister Levi Eshkol to Washing-
ton.
