37th national convention at the
Diplomat Hotel, Hollywood, Fla.

Dr. LEONARD W. MOSS, chair-
man, of the department of soci-
ology and anthopology, at Wayne
State University, has been named
a delegate of the American Antho-
pological Association to the sev-
enth international congress of
anthbpoligical a n d ethnological
sciences, to be held in Moscow,
USSR, Aug. 3-10. Dr. Moss will
present a paper, "Socio-Cultural
Change in South Italian Peasant
Culture," to the section on Euro-
pean Ethnography.

Dr. WILLIAM GELLMAN, ex-
ecutive director of the Jewish
Vocational Service of Chicago, a
Jewish Federation agency, has
been named by the U.S. Depart-
ment of Health, Education and
Welfare to advise Israel on a multi-
phase project for the handicapped.
A leading authority in the field
of rehibilitation, Dr. Gellman will
stay in Israel until mid-September.

Three Detroit doctors have join-
ed to create a scholarship at Bran-
deis University. The scholarship,

students- of the Waltham, Mass.,
liberal arts university, was estab-
lished by Drs. HALEY BELL,

CLEVELAND (JTA) — Ground
for a new $500,000 Hebrew Acad-
emy building was broken here. Ac-
cording to an announcement by
Irving I. Stone, president of the
institution, the new building will
be connected to the present struc-
ture by means of a floating stair-
well.
