Veterans Against
Aid to Egypt

National Commander Daniel
Neal Heller of the Jewish War
Veterans of the U.S.A. made
known that he is contacting lead-
ers of other veterans groups for
joint action to urge immediate
severance of American assistance
to the United Arab Republic in
view of the current visit of Soviet
Premier Khruslichev to Cairo and
increased Soviet arms to Egypt.
Heller, who returned recently
from a Near Eastern visit during
which he obtained facts on the
mounting acquisition of Soviet
munitions by the UAR, said Ameri-
can aid to the U.A.R. permitted
diversion of Egyptian funds to pay
for Russian arms. He pointed out
that the "American taxpayer is
indirectly subsidizing the Soviet
munitions industry and the flow
of Russian arms through Cairo to
new African nations."
