Vaudeville star Georgie Price
died in Manhattan Sunday at
age 64.
Price. a partner in the Wall
Street brokerage firm of Price
and Davis, formerly George E.
Price and Co.,
may be remem-
bered locally as a
performer f o r
one of the early
donor events of
the Women's
Auxiliary of the
Jewish National
Fund.
Price's career
as a singing star,
dancer and co-
median know n
internation-
ally, reputedly
earned him a
million dollars
before he was 19.
One of his
Price
trademarks was
the song "Bye Bye Blackbird." He
appeared in several movies and
during the 1930s was a star on
radio. Price informally retired
from show business a few years
after gaining his seat on the New
York Stock Exchange in 1934.
However, he made solo appear-
ances for charity.
Price was married to the for-
mer Catherine Marshall in 1943,
but they were divorced last year.
