be presented in Detroit through
a unique, continuing program
announced by Joseph L. Hud-
son, Jr., president, J. L. Hudson
Company. Nov. 18, Hudson's will
open the J. L. HUDSON GAL-
LERY, an exhibition area for a
series of contemporary paint-
ings and sculpture exhibitions
representing the work of inter-
nationally-recognized artists.

Mrs. Philip Rubinoff of Men-
dota Ave. announces the en-
gagement of her daughter,
Ronda Jerilyn, to Lester Noah
Shaw, son of Mr. and Mrs. Max-
well B. Shaw of Cherrylawn

The bride-elect and her fiance
are graduates of Wayne State
University. She is a sophomore
and he a junior in the univer-
sity's College of Medicine. The
future bridegroom is affiliated
with Phi Delta Epsilon fra-
ternity. A June 25, 1964 wed-
ding is planned.

The KOUTEV BULGARIAN
NATIONAL ENSEMBLE, a com-
pany of 75 singers, dancers and
instrumentalists which has been
hailed in principal cities of Eur-
ope and the Orient, will appear
here Oct. 19 and 20 in Detroit's
Masonic Auditorium, during the
course of its first United States
tour.

STABLES THEATER will
open its third season with "The
Drunkard," by W. H. Smith,
8:30 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Wol-
verine Hotel's Hawaiian Room.
Performances are given on
Thursdays, Fridays and Satur-

baum's "The Ivy Leagued
Heart."

Great Lakes. Antique
Show Opening Set

The 39th semi-annual Great
Lakes Antique Show will be held
Oct. 16-19 in the Fountain Room
of the Masonic Temple, an-
nounced L. F. Johnson. A total
of 55 , exhibitors will be repre-
sented.
The hours will be noon to
10:30 p.m. for the first three
days and noon to 9 p.m. on the
closing day.
The collections to be on dis-
play are valued at more than
$500,000. Featured will be small
furniture, woodcraft, tin, pewter
and brass, glass, European china
and French porcelains, stamps,
coins, guns, country store items,
old fashioned toys, dolls, Swed-
ish copper, knick-knacks and
other conversation pieces.

Bergen Opens Town Hall

Mr. and Mrs. Harry L. Rice of

Edgar Bergen, radio-TV-screen
star, will bring his one-man
show "Laughter Is My Busi-
ness" to Detroit Town Hall to
open its 35th season 11 a.m.
Wednesday at the Fisher Thea-
ter. The show will be followed
by a birthday luncheon at Al
Green's in the Fisher Building
Concourse. Along with Bergen
will be his wooden companions
Charlie McCarthy, Mortimer
Snerd and Effie Klinker.

Tickton Will Teach
Heritage of Hebrew
Music at Center

An eight-session course on
"The Wonderful. Heritage of He-
brew Music" will be taught 7:30-
9:30 p.m. Tuesdays beginning
this week by Jason H. Tickton,
associate professor of music at
Wayne State University at the
Jewish Center.
The course is offered by the
University Center for Adult Edu-
cation, representing the Univer-
sity of Michigan, Wayne State
University and Eastern Michigan
University, in cooperation with
the Jewish Center.
The works of several sym-
phonic composers will also be
studied, according to Tickton,
who is music director at Temple
Bth El. Reigstrations are being
accepted at the Center.
