Garelick's to Open
Season With Show
The Golden Age Club of the Jewish Center, under the
direction of the Cantor Nicholas Fenakel of Adas Shalom, has
been visiting various hospitals and nursing homes in the
Detroit area on the occasion of the High Holy Days and other
festivals. Cantor Fenakel is responsible for the organization of
the Golden Age Club. These visits have given a spiritual uplift
to confined senior citizens. Because the senior citizens cannot
attend the synagogue, the synagogue thus came to the senior
citizens. Special High Holy Days Services were conducted, as
shown in this photo, in the chapel of the Ingleside Convalescent
Center on Woodward Avenue. After the Yom Kippur services,
patients of all faiths joined for a social hour that included a
community sing led by the Golden Age Club members.
