Duquesne U Buys
$25,000 Israel Bond

Makes Sense

By DAVID SCHWARTZ

There is a common impres-
sion that the sabra (Israeli na-
tive) has a great streak of stub-
bornness in his make-up. Ac-
tually, he is very flexible. Take
the case of a member of the
Knesset. Recently his wife was
expecting. A friend said to him,
"do you want a boy or a girl?"
"I don't care which," he re-
plied, "all I want is that there
should be a bris."

The artist insists above all
that everything must be in the
right place. The best of all
notes, if they are not in the
right p 1 a c e, will not make
music. The famous composer,
Rubenstein, in his earlier years,
was tutoring a young lady.
Despite all of his admonitions,
she continued to make the
same mistake, but finally she
got it right and was so happy
about it, she kissed the com-
poser on his chin.

World Jewish Congress
Assists 'Frisco Soccer Club
In Hunt for Players
With the assistance of the
World Jewish Council, a San
Francisco Soccer Club is now
negotiating with a number of
former Algerian Jewish players
with a view to their joining the
West Coast team.
The aid of the World Jewish
Congress was enlisted some
months ago by Joshua Torczyner,
president of Hakoah Athletic
Club in San Francisco. He
regarded the recent migration
of 100,000 Algerian Jews to
France with the thought that
he might find a number of
soccer players among them.
As a result of this preliminary
work, a number of Algerian Jew-
ish soccer players were put in
touch with Torczyner, who visit-
ed Paris on his way back from a
trip to Israel. Several players
were interviewed and the San
Francisco club is hopeful that
within a few months the first
one or two will be in training
in San Francisco.
