The Theodore and Mina Barg-
man Arts and Crafts Building
will be dedicated noon Aug. 18
at Camp Tamarack, Brighton.
The camp, opened in 1927,
serves Jewish youngsters, 8-10.
Its sister camp at Ortonville has
served boys and girls, 11-16,
since its opening in 1953. Both
are operated by the 61-year-old
Fresh Air Society, a beneficiary
of the Allied Jewish Campaign
and the United Foundation
Torch Drive.
Dedication of the arts and
crafts building marks the first
new construction at the Brigh-
ton site in many years. Its erec-
tion was made possible by Mrs.
Theodore Bargman and will be
designated in her honor and in
memory of the late Mr. Barg-
man.
The Bargman Arts and Crafts
Building was specially designed
to provide adequate space and
equipment f o r woodworking,
ceramics, leather work, paper
mache, sand sculpture and
painting. .
Six large plastic bubbles were
installed in the roof to obtain
maximum light during the day-
light hours. A 10-foot wide
porch, covered with fiberglass,
extends the entire length of the
60-foot building.
The dedication of the build-
ing will be held in conjunction
with the Fresh Air Society's
annual meeting. The community
is invited to attend the cere-
mony, tour the facilities of the
camp and partake in a special
luncheon. For directions to
Camp Tamarac k, Brighton,
phone the office of the Fresh
Air Society, DI 1-5666.
Maxwell E. Katzen, immediate
past president of the Fresh Air
Society, is chairman of the dedi-
cation comimttee, which also
includes Mesdames Samuel Cha-
pin, Joseph Fenton, Samuel
Rands, Emil T. Stern, Asher
