MRS. LAWRENCE COLTON

Roberta Ann Fishman be-
came the bride of Lawrence

Parents of the newlyweds

She carried white orchids on
her confirmation Bible.
The maid of honor was Ar-
lene Fishman, sister of the
bride. The bridesmaids were
Elizabeth Oseff and Marianne
Steinberg. Junior bridesmaids
were Joan Rochlin and Barbara
Rochlin.
Richard Colton served as best

On the eve of the Oak Park
demonstration for civil rights,
a group of citizens, headed by
Mayor R. J. Alexander, issued
the following statement:
". . . We believe that the
demonstration scheduled for
this weekend by the NAACP
should be welcomed to our city.
We accept it as a testament to
the forward - looking attitudes
and procedures of our elected
officials and citizenry. We con-
sider the demonstration to be,
in the words of Arthur John-
son, the executive secretary of
the NAACP, `. . . necessary to
focus the attention of all peo-
ple in the community on the
problems of discrimination and
segregation.' "
Among those who signed the
statement were Harriet Arno-
witz, Rabbi Leo Goldman, Dr.
Bernard Goodman, Rabbi Mor-
decai Halpern, Walter Klein,
executive director of the Jew-
ish Community Council: Leon-
ard Moss, Rabbi Milton Rosen-
baum, Sidney Shayne and David
Shepherd, both Oak Park
Councilmen.
