MISS BARBARA BERMAN

Mr. and Mrs. Meyer H. Ber-
man of Berkley Ave:, Oak Park,
announced the engagement of
their daughter, Barbara Ruth,
to Marshall Charles Disner, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Hyman Disner
of Pinehurst Ave., at a recent
dinner party.
The bride-elect is a senior in
the College of Education at
Wayne State University. Her
fiance was graduated from
Wayne State, where he was a
member of Alpha Epsilon Pi
fraternity. A Sept. 7 wedding
is planned.

Diane Saltz Wins
3rd Prize in Barton's
National Writing Test

Fourteen-year-old Diane Saltz,
17546 Avon, won third prize
of a $50 U.S. Savings Bond in
the national creative writing
contest conducted by Barton's
Candy Corporation.
Her essay on "What Judaism
Teaches Us About World
Peace" competed against en-
tries by students up to 16 years
of age from almost a thousand
religious schools in all 50 states.
First prize in the contest was
a round trip to Israel for two
people.
Temple Israel High School,
Diane's school, will receive a
$100 grant to its scholarship
fund from Barton's as its share
of third prize.
Barton's Creative Writing
Contest is an annual -event open
to students of all religious
schools. The candy company,
famous for its kosher choco-
lates and the dramatic religious
material it publishes and is-
tributes free, conducts this con-
test to further interest in Torah
study and to help bring chil-
dren closer to Jewish living
through Jewish education.

Samuel Rothberg, president of
Israel Investors Corporation,
whose investments in Israel's in-
dustries approximate $18,000,-
000, was honored at a dinner in
New York for his outstanding
role in the development of
Israel's economy.
A total of $832,000 worth of
shares in Israel Investors Cor-
poration was sold in conjunction
with the dinner. The company
now has more than 5,000 stock-
holders in various parts of the
country.
Messages of tribute to Roth-
berg for his leadership in every
phase of American Jewish ef-
fort in behalf of Israel were
received from Prime Minister
Levi Eshkol, Foreign Minister
Golda Meier, Pinhas Sapir, Min-
ister of Finance and Commerce
