Mrs. Sam Barnett, chairmen of
the annual meeting of the
Jewish • Welfare Federation's
Women Division, to be held
next Wednesday at the Jewish
Center, are calling emergency
meetings of annual meeting
committees .to make plans to
accommodate a record number
of wonien.
Those attending will have an
opportunity to hear and meet
Betty Friedan, author of the
controversial best seller, "The
Feminine Mystique." Mrs. Frie-
dan contends that "ever since
World War II, women have
been bludgeoned into the be-
lief that they can find happi-
ness only by confining them-
selves to their "feminine" role
as wives and married at an
earlier age. Her book deals
with problems of signifi6ance to
both men and women.
Mrs. Jackson described the
meeting- as a "Fun Day."
Women attending are invited
to come at 10 a.m. and stay
until 3:30 p.m. The gym and
pool will be available for their
use from 10 to 12. Special
classes in slimnastics, yoga, jazz
exercise, Twist and Bosa Nova
will be held. An arts and crafts
workshop will be held from 10
to 12 and 2:30 to 3:30. An ex-
hibition of synchronized swim-
ming will be hied at 2:30 p.m.
Luncheon will be served at
12:30. A short business meet-
ing will follow luncheon at
which Mrs. Friedan will speak.
