GLADYS LIGHT joined her
sister, Faye Leiner, last week,
in becoming a United States
citizen . . . Both are from Glas-
gow, Scotland . . Gladys
pledged allegiance one week
after the column item on Faye
. . . She is married to Jack
Light and their two-year-old
daughter, Minda, is a cute little
tax deduction.

to make other women stylish

GERRY TAINES, builder
turned author, in New York for
a conference on his new record,
"Toody Tales," narrated by Joe
E. Ross, officer Gunther Toody
of NBC"s "Car 54, Where Are
You?" writes about the camera
crew and cast of a big tele-
vision show trekking over to
the wide open spaces of Jersey
City to shoot a couple of se-
quences for a horse opera . . .
The story involved the flight of
an ornery cattle thief over the
Mexican border . . . The camera
crew set up shop on one of the
main. New Jersey highways . . .
The director found one stretch
that had no buildings in view
and had' his technicians post a
sign reading, "Last gas station
before the border. Twenty miles
of uninhabited desert past this
sign." . . . By the time the di-
rector had rounded his cast, he
was dumbfounded to discover
a string of 17 cars with out-
of-state licenses lined up in
front of his prop gas station .. .
Although the towers of Newark
were clearly visible ahead, these
cautious drivers were taking no
chances. They wanted their
tanks full before braving those
"20 miles of uninhabited
desert." (Gerry is the ex-Detroit-
er now living in Ft. Lauder-
dale, Fla. whose recorded
stories with a moral for chil-
dren have gotten rave notices
in Billboard and Variety.)

and all diseases of the chest .. .
