It might take some searching to
locate this spot in Israel. It is
located a distance of 25 kilome-
ters northeast of Tel Aviv and
60 kilometers north of Jerusa-
lem.
Yet, it is one of Israel's most
vital spots, Containing one of its
important industries — and its
origin was in Detroit.

group of Detroit investors. They '
formed the Crush Stone Prod-
ucts Corp. and commenced quar-
rying the stones. It was a tough
struggle, and the Detroit group,
sensitive about absentee direc-
tion since Levy _could not re-
main in Israel for too long
stretches, formed a partnership
with Lime and Stone, a subsidi-
ary of Solel Boneh, the Hista-
drut construction corporation.
Now, under the successful joint
ownership, 170,000 tons of
stones are being quarried, by
neers at the plant and Mentke
Hudzinsky has been supervising
the workers since the company's
inception. Mentke drew wide
attention recently when he
found remains of an old Jewish
