Yeshivoth Beth Yehudah was
denied an application for land-

by the Southfield City Council.
While the request was tabled,
for lack of a properly worded
resolution, the council's action
was interpreted as a rejection
of the application.
Rumors were spread that op-
ponents of the Yeshivah's appli-
cation included a number of
Jews and that some claims were
made that "Reform Jews" main-
tained that Orthodox Jews num-:
bered only one per cent of
Southfield's Jewish population-
and therefore should not be
permitted to build another
branch, especially since Beth
Yehudah already has a branch
in nearby Oak Park. These ru-
mors were vehemently denied
by Jewish spokesmen.

The Sholem Aleichem School
and Nursery School are taking
registrations for the fall semes-
ter, beginning Sept. 5. The
Afternoon- school, which has
been operating for over 30 years,
