the Abraham Reisen Jewish
School of the . Workmen's Circle,
has announced a time change in
the operation of the school for
the coming year.

cational processes this past year
showed that Sunday is the best
day for teaching youngsters. On
Sunday they are not tired from
being in public school all day,
they are not nervous, they are
much more receptive to learn-
ing.
Because of this we decided
to reorganize our class schedule
in order to include two sessions
on Sunday, so that all of our

Fixed Prayer Texts
Make for Stability

By RABBI SAMUEL J. FOX

(Copyright, 1962, Jewish
Telegraphic Agency, Inc-)

Jewish tradition insists upon
a fixed formal text for prayer.
Basically, the Rabbis who
fixed this text were able to cap-
ture every conceivable mood or
feeling in a most expressive and
yet concise form. Furthermore,
the text of our prayers present
a most carefully calculated form
of expression for Jewish prin-
ciples and ideals.
There were many sects
throughout Jewish history from
time to time who tried to under-
mine these basic principles. The
fixed texts of our prayers pre-
served these ideas in their orig-
inal and genuine form.
While there is always room
and need for spontaneous ex-
pressions, these are only at most
auxiliaries to the basic text
which represent an exercise of
faith, most vital to the emo-
tional stability of the individual.
In addition, the text of our
prayers presents a carefully de-
veloped form of culture as com-
pared with the primitive "off
the cuff" expression an indivi-
dual is liable to present.

classes will meet on Sunday,"
stated Teiler.
Since all students will have
Sunday classes they will not be
required to attend as many
weekday hours as in previous
years. The new schedule, while
it does not cut down on the
number of weekly school hours,
does nevertheless permit the
