Bee Kalt, one of a selected group of 10 persons from various
states, has just returned from a five-day visit to Holland where she
was the guest of the Dutch government and the Amsterdam Tourist
Board. Miss Kalt, of the Bee Kalt Travel Service, made the trip on
Royal Dutch Airlines.
George Wechsler of New York is visiting Mr. and Mrs. Harvey

Historic and Famous Sayings "Penguin Quotations Dictionary"
The Isaacs Family Club will meet May 12 at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Ed Bierman, 19651 St. Francis, Livonia.
Mrs. Sarah Levin, 17579 Cherrylawn, gave a Passover tea for
the board members of Club One, Pioneer Women, at which time a

three-month stay in Israel.
Paula Stark, president and past matron of Purity Chapter,
Order of the Eastern Star, entertained officers of her year as
matron at a luncheon at her home on George Washington Ave.,
Southfield, in honor of her daughter, Mrs. Sandra Stark Finn, who
recently returned from her honeymoon in Florida. Mr. and Mrs.
Al Finn now live at 16830 Rutherford.
The Sherman Family Club will meet 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the
home of Emanuel Friedman, 23240 Scotia, Oak Park.
Mr. and Mrs. Leo Mertz, 16115 Hilton, Southfield, have re-
turned from vacationing in New York and the Catskill Mountains.
Five Detroit life insurance representatives are listed in the
1962 Roster of the Million Dollar Round Table of the National
Association of Life Underwriters. They are Edward Gordon, Harold
Gottlieb, Merton J. Segal, Irving M. Weisberg and Louis I. Zucker-
man.
The following Detroiters were elected members of the Ameri-
can Jewish Congress National Governing Council at the biennial
convention held last week: Marshall I. Brenner, Zeldon Cohen,
Rabbi Leon Frain, Frank Rosenbaum, Mrs. Louis Redstone, Mrs.
Dan Shapiro, Mrs. Leopold Snyder and Mrs. Allan Weston.
Barbara Lynn Komisar, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Komi-
sar, formerly of Livonia and now living in Winter Park, Fla., will
celebrate her "sweet sixteen" birthday with a luncheon May 12
at the Imperial House. Thirty-five guests will attend.
Mrs. Nathan Lewis, son Sheldon, and daughter, Marlene, of
20454 Carol, are vacationing at the Carillon Hotel in Miami Beach.
Center, Family-Children's Service,
Resettlement Service Meet Jointly
Theodore R. Isenstadt, direc-
tor of a national project to
study and improve services for
the aged, will address the joint
annual meetings of the Jewish
Family and Children's Service,
Resettlement Service and the
Jewish Center 2 p.m. Sunday
at the Jewish Center.
The four-year project, fi-
nanced by a Ford Foundation
grant of $300,000, has been un-
dertaken by the Family Serv-
ice Association of America to
improve counseling, homemaker
services, foster care and other
specialized services for the aged
conducted by family agencies.
Forty agencies in America,
including the Jewish Family
and Children's Service, are in-
volved in the project designed
to demonstrate what can be
done in selected communities
to strengthen programs and op-
portunities for older people.
Isenstadt has been execu-
tive director of the Jewish
Family Service Association
of Essex County, N.J., for
the past 15 years and has
also developed many special-
ized services for the aged.
He will conduct a project
which will be led by a small

mobile unit of specialists
experienced in work with the
aged and in the management
of volunteer agencies.
The Jewish Center will pres-
ent its Older Adult Chorus,
under the direction of Cantor
Nicholas Fenakel.
Nathan Milstein, president of
the Resettlement Service, an-
nounces that the RS will elect
officers and a board for the
coming season. Highlights of
the JFCS activities for the cur-
rent year will be reviewed by
agency president Max M. Shaye
and a report will be given of
special work initiated this year
with teen-age girls.
The Annual Meeting will
elect new Boards of both the
Jewish Center and the Family
Service.
Charles Gershenson , Center
president and chairman of
the annual meeting program,
will present the annual
Volunteer Citation to Mrs.
Arthur Rice, in behalf of the
volunteer group. Other volun-
teers will receive their cita-
tions through the mail.
Friends of the agencies are
invited to attend the annual
meetings and the reception to
follow. Mesdames Robert R.
Drews, Arthur I. Gould and
Sidney J. Karbel lead the recep-
tion and hostess committee.
The Resettlement Service is
financed by the Allied Jewish
Campaign. The Jewish Family
and Children's Service and the
Jewish Center are member
agencies of the Jewish Welfare
Federation and the United
Foundation.

First Levin Award
Winner Announced
William J. Gillen, a doctoral
student in economics at Wayne
State University and a lecturer
at Assumption University, is the
first winner of Wayne State's
Samuel M. Levin Economics
Award.
The $150 award is from a fund
established in 1958 in honor of
Prof. Levin upon his retirement
after 45 years of distinguished
service at Wayne State.
Gillen 26, of 2004 Iroquois,
Windsor, was given the award
for his essay on "The Bargain-
ing Power Theory of Wages." It
is an anlysis of attempts to ana-
lyze "bargaining power" under
collective bargaining.
The award will be presented
by Levin at a special seminar at
2 p.m. on Tuesday, in Wayne
State's McGregor Memorial Con-
ference Center. Gillen will also
summarize his paper.
Gillen holds a B.A. degree
from Assumption University and
an M.A. degree from the Univer-
sity of Toronto. He has been ,0
