A New Jersey rabbi, who has
made some 15 trips to Israel
during the last 15 years, re-
ports on religious life in the
Holy Land today in a new
book, "The Wild' Goats of Ein
Gedi," to be published by Dou-
bleday today.
The author, Herbert Weiner,
is Rabbi of Temple Israel, a
Reform congregation in South
Orange.
Rabbi Weiner's irlvestigations
of the range of religious belief
in Israel took him from com-
munities of free-thinkers to
Meah Shearim, the ultra-ortho-
dox quarter of Jerusalem.

Rabbinic Collection
The Wayne State University
Library has recently purchased
the rabbinic collection of Rabbi
Kancepolsky, a Brooklyn scholar
about to settle in Israel.
This private library, built up
over a number of years, consists
of nearly 600 volumes of Tal-
mudic commentaries, responsa,
and codes, including rare old
works and first editions.
Its purchase was made possible
by funds provided by the Kasle
Foundation, and appears to mark
the first time that a collection
of this type has been brought to
the Detroit area for public use.
