bert Hoover. To join, a man
must have circled the world
continuously in one direction
and have a deep interest in
foreign 'affairs.

Sam Minskoff & Sons, Inc. of
New York, an investment and
construction firm, will be own-
ers of the new 26-story Detroit
Bank and Trust Building in
downtown Detroit.
The firm, which will also con-
struct the building, was repre-
sented by Jerome Minskoff at
a meeting with Mayor Miriani;
Joseph M. Dodge, chairman . of
Detroit Bank and Trust; and
bank president Raymond T.
Perring.
To cost an estimated $16,000,.
000, the building will be located
on Fort St. and Washington
Blvd. Cohstruction is scheduled
to start this fall and will be
completed in mid-1963.

der of True Sisters, will hold.a
luncheon and swimming party
Wednesday at the home of Mrs.
David Silver, 20078 Kentfield as
part of the annual celebration
of "True Sisters Day" to com-
memorate the founding of the
Order in 1846. The Order is cur-
rently engaged in a national
membership drive, the first ef-
fort of its kind in the 115-year
history of the non-sectarian phil-
anthropic organization. 'Mrs. 'Si-

pfesident of the local- ledge.

HOOD will hold its first board
meeting of the. season Aug. 28
at the synagogue. A general
meeting will be held, 12:30 p.m.,
Sept. 5, in the synagogue. Pro-

and Mrs. Jean Gavern announce
the program will feature a
luncheon and fashion show. All

Kitchen Band Contest
New State Fair Feature

A unique kitchen , band con-
test, in which 75 per cent of
the 10 or more members must
be 60 or older will highlight
the annual Oldtimers Day • pro-
gram at the Michigan State Fair,
Sept. '7.
The State Fair opens its 10-
day run on Sept. 1.
The kitchen band contest will
be limited to a total of 15 or-
ganizations and the rules pro-
vide that none may have more
than three conventional instru-
ments; all others must be
novelty instruments or utensils
used in the kitchen. The dead-
line for entries is Aug. 21.

Mrs. Zesse Katz Honors
Husband with Grove of
Trees in Herzl Forest

A grove of trees begun a year
ago in honor of the 70th birthday
of Zesse R. Katz was completed
and presented to Mr. Katz by his
wife Rose in honor of his'recent
71st birthday.
The 1,000-tree grove was
planted in the Herzl Forest on
Mt. Herzl near Jerusalem.
