Seven Landsmanshaften societies were honored with cita-
tions for their efforts in furthering the work of the Jewish
National Fund in reclaiming the land in Israel by planting
a grove or more of 1000 trees each. The photo shows the presi-
dents and representatives of societies receiving citations: left
to right, standing: Morris Silver, Chaim Weizmann Society;
Nathan Korby, Turover Aid; Max Lankin, Chernigover and
Loyover Aid; J. Balberor, Yiddish Folks Farein; Irving Cantor,
Keshenever Bessarabier, now Berditchev-Keshenev Aid; seated:
Morris
Brandwine, president of JNF, who made the pres-
entations; Mrs. Pauline Flashenberg, Israel Club of Detroit;
Mrs. Harry Rosenthal, Chernigover and Loyover Aid; Harry
Kaminer, chairman of the committee for Landsmanshaften of
the Jewish National Fund, whose name was inscribed in the
Golden Book for his efforts to mobilize Landsmanshaften in
behalf of JNF. Absent from the picture: Meyer Terebelo,
president of Bereznitzer Aid Society. Two more societies,
Ruzhiner Progressive Society, in honor of their president
H. Karp, and Lachowitcher Aid, whose president is A. E.

Betensky, have undertaken to plant groves.
