Editor, The Jewish News:
As the delegate of the Rab-
binical Council of America to
the White House Conference on
Aging, held in Washington Jan.
8-12, it was a privilege to par-
take in a conference which is of
such great importance to the
future of all Americans.
That such a conference was
called by the president of the
United States in response to a
congressional bill, and that con-
cern for the aging was and is be-
ing felt in the highest level of
government is indicative of the
strong moral fiber that runs
through the American people.
The moral test of a nation,
according to some, is to be meas-
ured by how it treats its old.
"Affection and care for the old,
the incurable, the helpless . . .
are the true gold mines of a
culture."
The major Jewish speaker at
the conference was Dr. Abraham
