The Young Israel Center of
Oak-Woods Adult Education Com-
mittee will hold the first of its
series of lectures for the season
with an illustrated talk on "A
Young Israelite Views Israel",
8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Herbert Geduld will illustrate
his talk with color slides and
movies taken last month in Israel
on the Young Israel tour.
The Oak-Woods Adult Educa-
tion Committee also invites mem-
bers of the community to attend
a planning session 8:30 p.m. Mon-
day. The Adult Education pro-
gram will be based on the request
and interest of those participat-
ing. An instructor will be pro-
vided for any group of ten or
more individuals interested in any

Temple Israel's College of
Jewish Studies • opens its 20th
annual session Monday night.
Three courses are offered to
members of the congregation and
the general public. Dr. Leon
Fram will present a course in
Bible study, entitled "The Bible
from the Beginning," an inter-
pretation of the Book of Genesis,
8-9 p.m.
Rabbi M. Robert Syme will
offer an introduction to Hebrew,
8-9 p.m., and an "Interpretation
of the Symbols, Customs and
Ceremonies of the Jewish Reli-
gion," 9-10 p.m.
Jay Bodzin has joined the fac-
ulty of the Cong. Bnai Moshe
School of Adult Jewish Studies,
according to Dr. David Blum,
chairman.
Bodzin is teaching a course on
"The Geography of the Prayer
Book," intended for those who
have only an elementary reading
knowledge of Hebrew and wish
to be able to follow the reading
in the Synagogue Service.
Cantor Louis Klein, another
of the new additions to the fac-
ulty, is presenting a course in
"Traditional Melodies," with
transliteration. Singing ability
or music training is not required
for this course.
An experimental course in
"Conversational Hebrew" will
also be presented if the demand
warrants it. Dr. Blum stated
that in this program vocabulary,
phrases, and sentences will be
taught first and grammar later.
He indicated that there - is
still time to register for these
courses as well as the course in
"Elementary Hebrew," Rabbi
Lehrman's Lecture Series cov-
ering "The Bible" and "Com-
parative Religion."
All classes meet at the Bnai
Moshe Educational Center on
Ten Mile at 8:15 and 9:15 p.m.
Tuesdays.
West Berlin Jews
Mark '38 Pogrom
WEST BERLIN, (JTA) —
The West Berlin Jewish Com-
munity began a week-long
series of events commemorating
the Crystal Night pogroms on
Nov. 9, 1938, when synagogues
and Jewish homes and shops
throughout Germ any were
looted and burned. At cere-
monies at the Community
House, Senator Joachim Lip-
schitz and Heinz Galinski, chair-
man of the Jewish community,
recalled the events of 1938.
A literary and musical pro-
gram marking Crystal Night
was- held by the West Berlin
Wilmersdorf office for Art of
the Senate. A memorial tablet
for the victims of 1933-1945 was
unveiled at West Berlin's
Dorfaue near Teltower Damm.
An exhibition by Israeli paint-
ers is being held at the Jew-
ish Community House here and
will run until Dec. 15. About
150 works by modern Israeli
painters will be shown.
Oak Park High School Drama
Club will present "Ah, Wilder-
ness!", the first of its two an,
nual plays, tonight at the high
school auditorium. The cast
which performed Thursday in-
cluded George Layne, Gena Ger- •
sten, Ralp Lipsitz, Jeff Mallon,
Beth Rosengard, Steve Weston,
Diane Warnick, Fred Ruby, Ron
Seigal, Francine Golden, Rick
Zipser, Gail Bilto, Sue Nelson,
Mel Mandell and Micky Berger.
Tonight's cast changes will be
Joanne Katanick, Jeff Zeller,
Pam Epstein and Bernie Kirzner.
Director is Barry V. Levine, for-
merly associated with - World
Stage in Detroit. Tickets will be
available at the door.

will be a dramatic presentation
directed by Mrs. Eli Gross. This
will commemorate the Henri-
etta Szold Centennial and act
as a tribute to the great lady
who founded Hadassah.
Mrs. Oscar Band, president of
South Oakland County Hadas-
sah, will extend greetings to
the membership.
Tickets have been distributed
to the membership and the pro-
ceeds will go to Hadassah's voca-
tional education project. Mrs.
Stanley Waxenberg is fund-rais-
ing coordinator. The member-
ship is asked to note the change
from the original address on the
ticket.

Annual Bazaar from 10 a.m. to
5:30 p.m. Sunday, announced
co-chairman Mrs. Julius Droz
and Mrs. Sam Schiff.
A variety of gift items will
be featured, from imports to
novelties created by sisterhood
members, books, records and
baked goods. Games, movies and
the "Western Chuck Wagon"
are attractions for the children,
and adults.
