The American Jewish Congress has called on the State
Dept. to initiate discussions directly with the League of Arab
States aimed at halting the Arab boycott of U.S. firms dealing
with Israel. AJ Congress President Joachim Prinz sent Secre-
tary Herter a photostatic copy of a letter from Arab League
headquarters in Damascus, Syria, threatening to blacklist an
American company unless it ceased trading with Israel. The
letter was the first documentary evidence that a Central Office
for the Boycott of Israel has been estatblished in the Secre
tariat General of the League of Arab States.
