Levinson May Enter
Democratic Primary

Within a few days, Ben J.
Levinson will decide whether
he plans to enter the Demo-
cratic Party primary campaign
as the successor to Gov. G. Men-
nen Williams.
Levinson, 54, is president of
Franklin Mortgage Corp., and
has been active in a wide va-
riety of civic, communal and
philanthropic undertakings.
In a statement released this
week, Levinson said he has
been asked by many friends,
members of veterans groups
and Democratic Party members
to file for the primary.
In 1952, Levinson was nearly
elected Michigan's national
Democratic committeeman. He
lost by only a slender margin.
