First Levin Award to Start in Fall

An annual aware( in eco-
nomics has been established at
Wayne State University by
friends and relatives of Samuel
M. Levin. The award amounts
to $150 annually and is present-
ed to the student writing the
best essay in the senior honors
seminar in economics.
Prof. Levin retired in 1958
after 45 years of teaching eco-
nomics at WSU. The award of-
fers an opportunity for dis-
tinction for economics' students

The first award will be made
in the fall semester of 1960-
61. The deadline for applica-
tions is May 1, 1960.

Mr. and Mrs. Nathan
Schwartz, of York Rd., Hunt-
ington Woods, announce the
engagement of their daughter,
Janet Elaine, to Irving Kane,
son of Mrs. Goldie Kane, of

Jacob Glaser, president of the
branch, has recently been
elected chairman of the shekel
campaign for the Labor Zionist
Movement in Detroit.

Nathan Brenner, president.
Mrs. Abe Schwartz will be co-
hostess. Plans for installation
ceremonies on May 14 will be
discussed.

Center was handed its first loss,
61-34, by the Philadelphia Boys'
Club, last week. Play was close
throughout the first half, with
the halftime score 29-23. Phila.-

The team's next two games
are away, return visits to the
Windsor Jewish Community
Center Sunday, March 6 and to
