Adas Shalom's 'King and I' to Be
All-Hebrew Version of Hit Musical
Members of the cast for "Hamelech v'Anochi," Hebrew
version of the popular Broadway and motion picture musical,
"The King and I," rehearse the play, which will be presented
this Saturday night, in the Adas Shalom Synagogue social hall.
The 35-member cast, all members of the Adas Shalom chapters
of United Synagogue Youth and Leaders Training Fellowship,
are directed by Shimon Gewirtz, synagogue choir director.
Pictured, left to right, are CHARLES BERRIS, AUDREY
FELDMAN, GAIL KARP, JONATHAN GOLDSMITH and
STUART GOLDBERG. The production, open to the public, is
being staged entirely in Hebrew.
Hebrew Schools Enrolling Pupils for Spring Term
Registration in all age groups
for the spring semester of the
United Hebrew Schools is now
under way, with classes in the
elementary grades to start
Feb. 8.
To meet graduation require-
ments and Bar-Mitzvah regula-
tions of the synagogue, children
who have now reached the age
of eight should be enrolled in
Hebrew Schools. Bar Mitzvah
preparation is a regular part of
the Hebrew School course for
which there are no extra fees
or charges.
Classes for girls are now be-
ing offered in most UHS
branches, in addition to regular
classes which are open to both
boys and girls. These classes
conducted on a limited basis are
designed especially to prepare
the girls for Jewish living in
the home. Enrollment is also
taking place for these classes.
For information call DI 1-3407.
In response to requests for
modern Hebrew training for
young children on an informal
basis, classes are being formed
at the UHS Oak Park branch
and Esther Berman branch for
six-year and seven-year olds.
