Meat Knishes For Hanukah
2 cups flour
4 tablespoons chicken fat
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 eggs well beaten
V2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons water

Sift together flour, salt and baking powder. Add melted fat,
eggs and water. Knead a soft dough and roll out into a thin sheet,
on a floured board. Cut the dough into five squares and cover
with the meat.

Grind the meat together with the other ingredients. Add salt,
pepper and well beaten egg. Place some of the meat on each
square, fold the dough and press the edges together. Grease a
pan with melted fat, place the knishes in it and bake in a
moderate oven 350 degrees F. until nicely browned.
Roast Breast of Beef
4-lb. breast of beef
1 tablespoon prepared
2 sliced onions
mustard
1 sliced green pepper
1 sliced tomato
Vs cup sliced celery
2 bay leaves
2 crushed cloves garlic
1 teaspoon salt
1 /4 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon pepper
Wipe the meat with a damp cloth and place in a roasting
pan. Spread over the meat prepared with mustard, sliced onions,
sliced green peppers, celery and crushed cloves garlic, tomatoes
and bay leaves. Season with salt, pepper and paprika. Pour into
the pan 2 cups water, cover the roaster and roast the meat in a
moderate oven three hours. Pour three tablespoons catsup over
the meat and baste continually. Cut the meat into sliceS, and
cook in the gravy 30 minutes before serving.
After a period when very
few major films were made in
Israel, plans have been recently
announced for the filming of a
number of major productions.
The latest films whose produc-
tion has been scheduled are
"Kilometer 95" and "Ruth, the
Moabite."
Casting has begun for "Ki-
lometer 95," a Franco-Israel
film based on the novel about
Israel written by Herbert R.us-
con and his wife, Margalit
Bannai. The film will be di-
rected by Christian Jacques, of
France.
Shooting will take place
mainly in the southern Negev
settlement of Be'er Ora and in
Jaffa, and is due to start in
January. The film will be in
Hebrew, but will be dubbed for
world distribution. Jacques
chose the manuscript out of 537
submitted by Israel authors.
Sir Michael Balcon, the fa-
mous British film producer, is
planning to begin soon with the
shooting of "Ruth, the Maobite,"
from a scenario by Baruch
Diener of Israel. Sir Michael
is considering Elizabeth Taylor
and Peter Finch for the leading
roles, it was disclosed at a re-
cent press conference in Tel
Aviv by Leslie Norman, who is
to direct the film. The screen
play is to be prepared by
Christofer Fry.
Most of the film will be shot
at Suhmatta, in Western Gali-
lee, where a road will be
moved, vineyards will be plant-
ed, a wheat field sown, and
buildings erected, as a back-
ground to the love story of Ruth
and Boaz.

The charge was voiced at the
convention of the Christian
Democratic Party, by Celso de
Stefanis, national delegate of
the Christian Democratic Youth
Federation. Some members of
the Italian government, he stat-
ed, advocated military interven-
tion on the side of the British,
French and Israelis in the fall
of 1956.
