on Edmund Place, the son of
Anna and Louis Danto. For 36
years, he has been a practicing
dentist but a few blocks from
his downtown birthplace, in an
office on Woodward Ave., near
Sibley.
A surprise birthday party
was held for Danto at his
Huntington Woods home Wed-
nesday, with guests including
members of the family and past
masters of Perfection Lodge,
Masons, of which he is past
master and treasurer.
Danto, whose patients include
the founders of troop 23, the
first Jewish Boy Scout troop
in Detroit. He is also a member
of the Old Timers' Group of
the Hannah Schloss organiza-
tion which he joined 45 years
ago.
An alumnus of the old Bishop
Corps, was a member of the
Inter-collegiate Menorah Asso-
ciation and played football
with Catholic Central and Cass
High SchoOl before attending
the University of Michigan
Dental School, where he re-
ceived his degree in 1923.
During his junior year there,
he married Sylvia Gittleman.
They have two sons, Dr. Arthur
C. Danto, artist and professor
of philosophy at Columbia
University, and Bruce L. Danto,
The bride wore a gown of
Renaissance, pale ivory bomba-
zine in the candlelight, double
ring ceremony uniting Miriam
Marilyn Hirst and Stanley Stein-
berg in marriage Thursday, at
Temple Israel.
Daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Samuel J. Hirst, of W. Outer
Dr., the new Mrs. Steinberg
and her husband, son of the
Abraham E. Steinbergs, of
Philadelphia, Pa., are honey-
mooning in Upper Michigan.
Carrying white orchids and
stephanotis attached to her
Bible, the bride repeated the
marriage vows wearing a silk
illusion. veil held by a crown of
Chantilly lace jeweled with
pearl and iridescent paillettes.
Her gown was highlighted by
a portrait neckline and . petal
scallops, long traditional pointed
sleeves and garlands of lace
encircling the bell shaped skirt
which spread to a court train.
Josephine Hirst, sister-in-law
of the bride, was her matron
of honor, while Nellie. Hirst,
Rochelle Katz and Norma Chud-
now were bridesmaids, with
Michelle Rothman as flower
girl.
Murray Hirst, brother of the
bride, was the bridegroom's
best man, and ushers included
Norman Hirst, Charles Hirst
and Meyer Chudnow.
A dinner and a reception in
the Temple followed the cere-
mony. On their return from
their honeymoon, the newly-.
weds will take up residence on
Santa Maria Ave.

Registration for the fall
semester is now being taken,
it was announced by the United
Jewish Folk School, 19161
Schaefer. A limited number of
children, aged three and one-
half to five, will be accepted
in the nursery school, accred-
ited by the State of Michigan.
Boys and girls, aged five and
six, are eligible for the pre
school classes, and those from
seven to 13, in the afternoon
classes of the grade school. Bar
Mitzvah preparation is also of-
fered, while advanced students
are placed in grades for which
they qualify. Transportation is
offered for both grade school
and nursery school.
