a.m., Sunday, at Kensington
Park, under the chairmanship
of Mrs. Harold Weiss. Games
and prizes are planned, along
with beverages and dessert. For

Members of the Auxiliary will
visit the Girls Detention Home
and cottages on Saturday. Mrs.
Faye Berman is chairman. and
Mrs. Harry Left is co-chairman.
Entertainment will be provided
by Ranita Left and Ruth
Nemon.

Brevities

Mr. and Mrs. Julius M.
Singer, of 20315 Mansfield, who
on June 28 celebrated their
50th wedding anniversary, were
honored last week at two sep-
arate events.
The first was a dinner given
by their children and close
friends on their anniversary
date, while the other was a sur-
prise event attended by 150 of
their friends from Arlazaroff
Branch of the Farband, on July
1.
Attending the dinner party
were the couple's children, Mr.
and Mrs. Rubin Jaffe, Mr. and
Mrs. Harry Eskin and Dr. and
Mrs. Milton Singer, of Chicago;
their five grandchildren: and
Mrs. Edith Br o t s k y. of San
Francisco, Mr. Samuel J. Green-
berg, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Cole-
man and Mr. and Mrs. Law-
rence Greenberg.
At the Arlazaroff celebration.
many trees were planted in
honor of Mr. and Mrs. Singer,
and their names were inscribed
in the Golden Book of the Jew-
ish National Fund in Jerusalem.
Both natives of P o I a n d,
where they were married on
June 28, 1909, Mr. and Mrs.
Singer came to Detroit in 1913.
Mr. Singer is the founder of
the Wolverine Ginger Ale Co.,
which he sold a few years ago
so that he might devote his full
time to Singer's Extract Labor-
atory. manufacturers of extracts
for soft drink bottlers.
A vice-president of Arlaza-
roff Branch and the Labor Zi-
onist Institute. Mr. Singer has
served numerous educational,
religious and cultural causes,
both here and in Israel.
A substantial purchaser of
Israel Bonds, Mr. Singer receiv-
ed a certificate from the U.S.
Treasury for his efforts in sell-
ing a large number of U.S. Gov-
ernment Bonds during World
War II.
Charter members of Adas
Shalom Synagogue, M r. a n d
Mrs. Singer are active members
in the Poale Zion. other phases
of the Labor Zionist Movement
and have been supporters for
35 years of the Ilistadrut Cam-
paign.
Mrs. Singer is a member of
the Ladies Auxiliary of the
Jewish National Fund, Club
One of Pioneer Women and the
Detroit Chapter of Hadassah.
One of the happiest experien-
ces in Mr. Singer's life was be-
ing able to assist his brother's
wife and her three children to
reach Israel after World War II.
His brother. Moishe, was
killed during the Warsaw
Ghetto Uprising, but, after the
war, through -the Jewish -Agen-
cy, he located his brother's fam-
ily and aided in their departure
for a new life in Israel.

Set Up 7 Israel Stations
to Measure Atomic Fallout

TEL AVIV (JTA) — Israel
has seven • stations thrOughout
the country to measure radio-
activity fallout from nuclear
testing by the Big Powers, Dr.
Ernest D. Bergmann, chairman
of the Israeli Atomic Energy
Commission, revealed here.

Edward Wishnetsky, an agent
of the Hordes Insurance
Agency, placed second nation-
ally in sales during May for the
Ohio State Life Insurance
Company.
His one-month total of $115,-
000- in insurance production
earned him recognition in the
current issue of the company's
magazine, the OSLICO.

DETROIT POST and AUX-
ILIARY recently heard an ad-
dress by Lt. Albro L. Lundy,
separation officer at Selfridge
Air Force, at a joint social at
the Memorial Home. The film
"New Sound of Freedom" was
shown.

Dr. Milton L. Sorock has been
appointed chief of surgery at
Sinai Hospital, it was announced
by Abraham Srere, president of
the hospital.
Dr. Sorock replaces Dr.
Maurice P. Meyers whose resig-
nation was recently accepted.
A native Detroiter and a
graduate of Wayne State Uni-
versity college of medicine, Dr.
Sorock is an instructor in sur-
gery at Wayne, and has staff
appointments at Receiving and
Herman Keifer Hospital.

Wishnetsky also earned rec-
ognition from the company for

achieving his fourth annual Na-
tional Quality Award, given to
qualifying agents from all com-
panies throughout the country.
