Elliott Cohen Found
Dead in N.Y. Apartment

NEW YORK (JTA)—Police
reported that Elliott E. Cohen,
editor of Commentary magazine
was found dead with a plastic
bag over his head last weekend.
He was 60 years ord. Funeral
service- were held on Sunday.
Cohen was found by his wife
when she returned to their up-
per Manhattan apartment, po-
lice said. Cohen had been de-
pressed for some time and was
under a doctor's care, police re-
ported.
Mr. Cohen was born in Des
Moines, Ia., and raised in Mo-
bile, Ala. He entered Yale
University at the age of 14. and
graduated at 19. At 24, he be-;
came the managing editor of
