Dr. J. J. Katz to Address Local Technion Society

Dr. Joseph J. Katz, senior
inorganic chemist at the Ar-
gonne National Laboratory, Chi-
cago, will address the open
meeting of the Detroit Chapter
of the American Technion So-
ciety, next Wednesday evening.
at the Hayim Greenberg Center.
Dr. Katz was in Israel last
year as a guest of the Israel
Atomic Energy Commission and
visited all the major scientific
installations in the country.
His talk will outline the spe-

cific activities of various re-
search institutions in Israel.
Born in Detroit, Dr. Katz re-
ceived his early education here,
culminating with an under-
graduate degree from Wayne
University and a Ph.D. degree
from the University of Chicago
in 1942.
He is the author and editor
of several books on the chem-
istry of the transuranium ele-
ments and is the American edi-
tor of the Journal of Inorganic

and Nuclear Chemistry. He has
served as technical advisor to
the U.S. Delegation to the Con-
ference on Peaceful Uses of
Atomic Energy at Geneva, is
the recipient of the distin-
guished alumnus award from
Wayne State University and has
been a Guggenheim Fellow at
Cambridge University in Eng-
land.

the committee arranging Dr.
Katz' talk.
