at Jewish Community Centers Here Adas
Members of the Leaders

As basketball begins to fade
from the Jewish Community
Center sports scene, youthful
members are taking up the
cry, "Play Ball."
Concluding the basketball
picture last week were all-star
contests between the Class B
all stars, who beat league
champion Normans, 25-18, and
Class A all-stars, who downed
league titlist Bismarks, 33-21.
Over 300 fans watched the
contests in the Max M. and
Marjorie S. Fisher gymnasium
of the Center's new main
building, and contributed $95
for the Jerusalem YMHA.
Meanwhile, j u n i o r, teen,
tween and senior divisions are
organizing softball leagues at
both the main center and the
10 Mile branch.
Main Center juniors, 9-12,
will begin the season May 3,
at area school diamonds, con-
tinuing through June. Separate
leagues for 9 and 10-year-olds
and 11 and 12-year-olds are
being formed. Fathers are still
needed as coaches.
A meeting of boys and their
dads will take place at 1:30
p.m., Sunday, when Norman
Schimelman will outline the
program. Boys must bring their
own gloves. The Center will
furnish all other equipment.
Teen softball will be organ-
ized in A (16-18) and B (14-15)
leagues, with play starting at
10 a.m., May 3. The B league
will meet at Mumford High,
while A leaguers will meet at
Lugar Field, 7 Mile and Tracey.
A slow-pitching league for
young adults and adults (19 and
over) will start at 10 a.m., May
10, at Schulze School. Regis-
tration will be accepted through
Sunday.
At the 10 Mile branch, teen-
tween boys (12-17) and tween
girls (12-13) and adult men
over 21 are organizing softball
leagues to begin May 10. Regis-
