Miss Engel shares an office
in the Buhl Building with her
husband Myer Rubin, an at-
torney. She is also known for
the beauty of her handwriting
and includes handwritten invi-
tations in parties she plans. It
takes her some 40 hours to
address 300 wedding invitations.

Ady Semel to Perform
For Labor Zionists

Ady Semel, Israeli folk sing-
er and guitarist, will be fea-
tured entertainer at the Labor
Zionist Organization's fourth
annual Purim celebration on
Saturday night, at the Morris
Schaver auditorium of the
Hayim Greenberg Center.
Music will be by Zang Gil-
bert, who is affiliated with the
Dick Stein orchestra. An orig-
inal skit, "Sunrise on Schaefer
Highway," will be presented
by the LZOA players.
The theme of the evening is
a "Purim Hat Dance," and ev-
eryone is requested to wear
some type of hat. Prizes will
be given for the most original
creations. There will be other
prizes also.
The community is invited.

A series of meetings on "IN-
VESTMENT KNOW-HOW" will
begin at '7:30 p.m., Tuesday, at
the Parkman Branch Library,
1766 Oakman Blvd., under the
joint sponsorship of the Detroit
Stock Exchange and Detroit
Public Library. Three meetings
are planned, each to be address-
ed by speakers from the ex-
change.

Circle to Memorialize
Late Alex Levitt;
Slate Other Events

Members of the Workmen's
Circle will gather at 2 p.m.,
Sunday, in the Bernstein audi-
torium of the new Circle Cen-
ter, 18340 W. 7 Mile Rd., to pay
tribute to the memory of the
late Alex Levitt.
For many years a devoted
member of the Circle, Mr. Levitt
had been chairman of the
Michigan District Committee
and chairman of Branch III.
He also was president of the
Circle chorus and was chair-
man of the cemetery commit-
tee.
Speakers will be Joseph Bern-
stein, Meyer Schneider, M.
Rochlin, Monroe Title and Saul
Maltz, who will preside. There
will be Yiddish and English
readings by Jacob Reissman and
Eileen Israel and several selec-
tions will be sung by the WC
chorus, conducted by Abe Silver
and accompanied by Bella Gold-
berg.
Friends and relatives are in-
vited to attend.
A celebration honoring the
100th anniversary of the birth
of Sholem Aleichem will be
held at 9 p.m., today, in the
Center. Participants in the pro-
gram are Saul Maltz, Samuel
Sigal, Eileen Israel, Miriam
Gornbein and Solomon Schklo-
yen, chairman.
Mrs. Harry Mondry will be
guest speaker at a meeting of
the WC Golden Ring Club at
1 p.m., Wednesday, at the Cen-

ter.

Two complete showings of
"Deep in My Heart" are sched-
uled for the Bnai David Men's
Club Theater Party at 7 and
9:30 p.m., Tuesday, at the
Avalon Theater. The box office
opens at 6:30 p.m., and all
tickets are $1.
Proceeds of the Theater
Night will be used for youth
activities, announce Milton Her-
man and Sam Ravitz, theater
co-chairmen. Others on the
theater committee are Harry
Warsh, David Leibow, Bernie

The film depicts the life of
composer Sigmund Romberg,
with Jose Ferrer playing the

Toumanova, and guest stars
Rosemary Clooney, Gene and
Fred Kelly, Jane Powell, Vic
Damone, Ann Miller, William

Martin and Joan Weldon.
