MR. & MRS. PETER ROGGIN

Mr. and Mrs. Peter Roggin, of
3740 Webb, celebrated their
50th wedding anniversary Jan.
4 with a dance and reception for
100 guests at the Holiday
Manor.

Married Dec. 28, 1908, in Cin-
cinnati, 0., the Roggins moved
here shortly after, becoming ac-
tive in numerous communal or-
ganizations. Among them are
the Metropolitan Jewish Social
Club, Fruit Vendors Ass'n.,
Western Bialystoker Society and
the Seidlitz Society.

Mr. and Mrs. Roggin are the
parents of four sons, Albert,
Hyman, Sam and Ben. and they
have eight grandchildren. The
couple will spend the winter
months in Hot Springs, Ark.

Lachowitcher Aid Society
Installs Its New Officers

the Lachowitcher Aid Society

were installed in ceremonies
on Jan. 6:

Inauguration of a Jewish
Youth Assembly of Detroit, to
assist youth groups in plan-
ning activities of community-
wide interests, will take place
at a luncheon meeting at 1:30
p.m., Feb. 1, in the Hayim
Greenberg Center, 19161 Schae-
fer.
The gatheMng, under the
sponsorship of the Jewish Na-
tional Fund Council of De-
troit, will attract representa-
tives from United Synagogue
Youth, Leaders' Training Fel-
lowship, Temple Youth, junior
congregations, Hadassah, Bnai
Brith Youth, Jewish Commu-
nity Center, Habonim, Bnai
Akiva, Has h o m e r Hatzair,
Young Judea, Young Israel and
the Student Zionist Organiza-
tion.
Arie Shoval, youth director
for JNF, will explain the pur-
poses of the proposed youth
council, and questions per-
taining to its formation will
be answered by Jerry Lax,
Jeff Tigay and Leon Waldman,
coordinators.
Following the discusssion,
there will be a program of
entertainment by Shimon Ge-
wirtz, local folk singer.

to Hear Book Review

Adele Mondry Semitics
Grant Endowed at WSU

For the second year, the
Adele Mondry Scholarship of
$350 will be available for two
students at Wayne State Uni-
versity who are interested in
Semitics. The fund, contributed
by Harry Mondry in honor of
his wife's graduation from WSU
in Jan. 1958, will be divided,
with $300 going to a liberal arts
student interested in Semitic
studies or history, the remain-

Mumford cagers trounced
Cody, 60-49, in a game played
last Friday. The Mustangs ex-
tended their 26-25 half-time

thews. Top scorers for Mumford
were Dave Shevitz, 16 points,
and Mike Kukes and Jackie Wil-
liams, 14 points. The Mustangs
hold a 4-1 record for the season.

Aaron Goren was Mumford's

of Jan. 30-Feb. 1. The discus-
sion, "Ethics of the Fathers,"

Hebrew Union College.
