`Music Inteiliationale' at Temple Israel

activities in Society

Out-of-towners here this weekend to attend the Bar Mitzvah
of Arthur Neal Friedman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Friedman,
of 17321 Prairie, are his aunt, Mrs. Isadore Wasserman, of New
Orleans, La., and his aunt, uncle and cousin Mr. and Mrs. Moe
Moore and Barbara of Flint, Mich.
Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Robbins, formerly of the Lee Plaza
Hotel, have moved into their new home at 29925 Bristol Lane,
Southfield Township.
Dr. Sydney C. Peimer, associate director of Sinai Hospital.
and Mrs. Peimer, left on the Greek liner Olympia for a cruise
of the West Indies. The trip was an award from the National
Women's Division of the American Jewish Congress. While on the
cruise, the Peimers will visit with Mrs. Peimer's brother, Jerome
Saul, who resides at •St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.
Mrs. Rose Rubenstein and Mrs. Eada Barrer will present
a number of students in a piano recital this Saturday.

Following their return from
a honeymoon in Florida, new-
ly-weds Mr. and Mrs. Allan
Richard Silverman will reside
on Santa Maria Ave.
Before her wedding on Jan.
11, the bride was the former
Marilyn Goldstein, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Goldstein,
of Kentucky Ave. Mr. Silver-
man's parents are the Aaron
Silvermans, of Cranbr000k Dr.
Mrs. Roland Schwalb was the
bride's matron of honor, while
bridesmaids were her cousin,
Sandra Rosenfeld and Mrs.
Ronald Strasner.
The bridegroom's brother,
Robert Silverman, served as his
best man. Seating the guests
were Lloyd Lentzer and Martin
Gorosh.

Councilettes Set Careers Institute

Councilettes, junior division
of National Council of Jewish
Women, will present a Careers
Institute for girls at 1:30 p.m.,
Sunday, in the main lecture
room of Sinai Hospital.
The program is a pilot project
of Councilettes and is the first
of its kind in the Detroit area.
Featured on the program will
be a careers panel covering four
vocational opportunities of in-
terest to high school girls plan-
ning their future.
Serving on the panel will be
Mrs. Lionel Willens, who will
speak on dental hygiene; Mrs.
Ruth Edelson, director of the
Shapiro School of Nursing; Mrs.
Sy Grossman, who will speak on
the field of social work, and

The final donor rally of
the Ladies' Auxiliary of the
Jewish •National Fund, prior
to the annual tea, will take
place Tuesday, Jan. 20, at
12:30, at the Beth Aaron
Synagogue, Wyoming and
Thatcher.
The feature that afternoon
will be the presentation of a
skit, "Donor Dilemma," by
the JNF Drama Group, of
which Mrs. Irving Arlin is
president. The skit is being
directed by Mrs. William
Levin. The program chair-
man that afternoon will be
Mrs. Samuel Krohn.
Hostesses for the Jan. 20
meeting will be Mesdames
S. Rosenblatt, I. Schlussel,
William Hordes, Sidney Ra-
vin and R. B. Newman.

Report Progress
for Donor of JNF

Marked progress is being
made by the Jewish National
Fund Ladies' Auxiliary to at-
tain this year's goal of $65,000
which is being assigned towards
the planting of the new In-
dependence Forest near Jeru-
salem, Mrs. Max Stollman, presi-
dent of the Auxiliary, and Mrs.
Al. Schneider, the fund-raising
chairman, stated this week.
The current donor campaign
will be concluded with the an-
nual tea and cultural program,
to be held at 12 noon, Tuesday,
Jan. 27, at Temple Israel.
Drew Pearson will be the
guest speaker. The musical pro-
gram will feature Emma Schav-
er, well known soprano.

able in the community; and Mrs.
Bert Ozer, who will speak on
opportunities in fashion mer-
chandising. The panel will be
moderated by Lloyd Meadow,
of the Jewish Vocational Serv-
ice, who will discuss the im-

from around the world is
planned by the Sisterhood and
Young Marrieds Group of Tem-

urday, in the temple's Leon
Fram Hall.
Under the chairmanship of
Mrs. Hal Gordon and her co-
chairman, Mrs. Abel Selburn,
of the Young Married Group, a
"Music Internationale" evening
has been scheduled.

ance of Ady Semel, fifth gen-
