Bar-Ilan Dinner Next Wednesday

of the annual Bar-Ilan Univer-
sity dinner, sponsored by Miz-
rachi in behalf of the univer-
sity in Ramat Gan, Israel, an-

New Study Sessions

Adult education study groups
at Young Israel Center of Oak-
Woods will begin its spring se-
mester of studies this week, an-
nounces Ernest L. Citron, syna-
gogue board chairman.
At 4:30 p.m., each Saturday,
Rabbi Yaakov I. Homnick will
lead a study group on "The
Message of Exodus," analyzing
the second book of the Bible
with a view toward proving the
authenticity of the Bible's Di-
vine origin.
A discussion series will be
held at 10:30 a.m., Sundays, on
"The Basic Teachings of Juda-
ism," using the original Hebrew
Mishnah as its text. The series
will deal specifically with "Man's
Expression of Appreciation and
Gratitude." The programs are
followed by informal coffee
hours.
Another class is taught at 8
p.m., Tuesdays. "Abraham, the
Chosen Personality" will be dis-
cussed in this series based on
study of the Book of Genesis.
All programs are open to the
community.

Honorary chairmen for the
dinner include David I. Berris,
Louis Berry, Tom Borman,
David Goldberg, Daniel Laven,
Isadore MUskovitz, Louis Per-
shin, Irving W. Schlussel and
Daniel Temchin.
The guest speaker at the din-
ner Wednesday will be Dr.
Henry Raphael Gold, eminent
rabbi and physician. The musi-
cal program will be presented
by Cantors Shabtai Ackerman
and Hyman Adler, accompanied
by Dan Frohman.
Max and Phillip Stollman will
be honored at the dinner in
recognition of their many years'
contributions to Bar-Ilan, Miz-
rachi and to other communal
causes. Max Stollman is chair-
man, and Philip Stollman, co-
chairman, of the American Com-
mittee for Bar-Ilan.

David Ben-Dov, educational
attache to the Embassy of Is-
rael, will make his first Detroit
appearance when he delivers
the opening address in the new
course, "Focus on Israel," which
will be - presented during the
second semester of the seventh
annual Synagogue Adult Insti-
tute at 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, at
the Beth Aaron Synagogue. All
institute classes are held at the
synagogue, announces Rabbi
Benjamin H. Gorrelick, Insti-
tute chairman.
"Focus on Israel," a new
course consisting of a series of
ten lectures by prominent Is:
raeli and Jewish personalities,
will include, in addition to Ben-
Dov, lectures by Isaac Unna,
of the Consulate General of Is-

rael; B. M. Joffe, executive di-
rector of the Jewish Community
Council; and Philip Slomovitz,
editor and publisher of The Jew-
ish News.
Another new course to be of-
fered during the second sem-
ester will be "Midrash and Jew-
ish Lore," to be conducted by
Rabbi Hyman Agress, spiritual
leader of the Evergreen Jewish
Cong.
Rabbi Moses Lehrman, of
Cong. Bnai Moshe, will conduct
a special course on "Modern
Problems in Jewish Life," which
