Gail Toby, to Basil B. Nemer,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Morris
Nemer, also of Robson Ave.
Miss Steffin attended the Uni-
versity of Wisconsin, and is
presently a student at Great
Lakes College. Mr. Nemer is a
graduate of the University of
Michigan college of architec-
ture.

Levensons, Son Honored
by Allied Veterans Council
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Levenson
and their son, Franklin, will be
honored by the Allied Veterans
Council at a dinner meeting
planned for 6:30 p.m., Monday,
in the Veterans Memorial Bldg.
The Council, representing 23
local veterans groups, is honor-
ing Levenson for his interest in
veterans affairs over the year,
but specifically for raising funds
to finance a Christmas party for
children of hospitalized veterans
in Dearborn and Ann Arbor
Veterans Hospitals.
"The American Jew: A Trib-
ute To Freedom," a full hour
special report on the position of
Jews in America today, will be
presented at 11:30 a.m., Sunday,
on WJBK-TV (Channel 2). The
program is produced by the pub-
lic affairs department of CBS
News in co-operation with the
Anti-Defamation League of Bnai
Brith.
On "The American Jew,"
viewers will see Jews weaving
their own life pattern into the
fabric of America as, variously,
a fireman, a farther, a skilled
laborer, a botanist, a circuit-
riding rabbi (with a bus for a
synagogue) and as leading fig-
ures in entertainment, govern-
ment, education, science and in-
dustry.
Among the distinguished
guests who will appear on the
program are former U.S. Sen.
Herbert H. Lehman; Dr. Bela
Schick, discoverer of the "Schick
test" for susceptibility to diph-
theria; Dore Schary; Actress
Susan S•trasberg; Richard Tuck-
er, leading tenor of the Metro-
politan Opera; cartoonist Al
Capp;; Jacob Potofsky, presi-
dent of the Amalgamated Cloth-
ing Workers U n i o n; Philip
Klutznick, president of Bnai
Brith; and Henry Edward
Schultz, national chairman of
the Anti-Defamation League.
Hollywood actor Jeff Chandler
will fly to New York to act as
narrator.
The program is based on "The
Position of the Jews in America
Today," an article by William
Atwood in Look Magazine. At-
wood is acting as special con-
sultant to the public affairs de-
partment of CBS News for the
program.
At the conclusion of "The
American Jew," silver medal-
lions, given annually by the
ADL for "distinguished contri-
butions to the enrichment of
America's Democratic Legacy,"
will be presented.
The awards, being given this
year in the field of mass media,
will be given to CBS, The New
York Times, and Look Magazine.
Dr. Frank Stanton, president
of CBS; Orvil E. Dryfoos, presi-
dent, New York Times; and
Gardner Cowles, editor of Look,
will accept the awards.

Abraham Synagogue. Rabbi
