Support the Beth Yehudah Schools

This is Education Month in our Detroit Jewish Community!

Traditionally it is a period when educators and ordinary citizens
alike pause to glance back to see where we have been and look ahead
to see where we are going in the area of Jewish education.

ALLEN B. KRAMER
Dinner Co-Chairman

At the Beth Yehudah Schools, with its close to 1,000 students at-
tending at the main building and two branches, we see the backbone of
Jewish education. Here, as we look back or peak into the future, we find
the same thing: children who are taught in the traditional manner.
Teaching methods may differ, as we learn new techniques to help students
gain the utmost from their training, but the message is the traditional ap-

proach which has held Jewry together as a nation-religion for 3,000 years.

The Beth Yehudah School is a community school, and, by their own
contributions, is acknowledged as such by many of the largest contribu-
tors in our community.

Many of the most substantial supporters of the schools, like
myself, are not observant Jews in the strictest sense of the word.
However, they realize the importance of building Jewish leadership
for the future. They feel that spiritual and cultural growth and re-
ligious continuity can be provided only by schools such as the Beth
Yehudah. They see that an investment in the Beth Yehudah ac-
tually is an investment in new generations of American Jews.

I

One of the finest ways that I have found to give expression to the
deep feelings I have toward my parents and family is by carrying out
the work they started in the only way I know how—by contributing of
the means I have, by providing memorials for my parents, by investing
in schools such as the Beth Yehudah where I know the tasks they saw
started will grow in spirit and in the fulfillment of devotion to our people.

Name Members of

In urging your support for the Beth Yehudah Schools, I ask you to Dinner Committee
bear in mind the millions of dollars that are currently being spent on the
Mr. Jack Carmen
building of beautiful synagogues in our own community and throughout
Mr. Ernest Citron
the country.
Mr. Isadore R. Cohen

They are vital to the growth of our community, but without the
devotion of a generation of leaders, they will be hollow structures.
Beth Yehudah students, as adults, will be the worshippers in these
synagogues. They will be the hard core that keeps Jewry alive and
vibrant.

You can keep the doors of the Beth Yehudah Schools open by your
support. And a good beginning will be made by coming to the Dinner
and Show on Sunday, November 16th, at the Latin Quarter.
