Synagogue Adult Institute Opens Classes Nov. 11
Rabbi Adler to Guide Council
During Crohn's Visit in Israel
Rabbi Morris Adler will as-
sume duties as acting presi-
dent of the Jewish Community
Council during the absence
from the country of Lawrence
W. Crohn, Council president.
Mr. and Mrs. Crohn have left
Detroit for an extended stay
in Israel, during which they
will visit ther children, Mr.
and Mrs. David Crohn and their
grandchildren in Herzliah.
Announcement was made by
Rabbi Adler that the Council's
opening Delegate Assembly will
be convened at 8:30 p.m., Nov.
10, in the Hayim Greenberg
Center, 19161 Schaefer.
In addition to summary re-
ports on Council activities, the
assembly will feature a panel
presentation on "Greater De-
troit's Jewish Population."
The panel will be led by
Prof. Albert J. Mayer, of the
!Wayne State University de-
partment of sociology and an-
thropology. and will deal with
the size, location, occupations,
age and mobility factors of the
local population, discussing the
meaning of these_ factors to
Jewish organizations.
Lapeer School to Get
36 Flags from JWV
In a ceremony today at the
recently-completed new build-
ing of the Lapeer State Home
and Training School, the De-
partment • of Michigan, Jewish
War Veterans, will present 36
flags to be placed in each of
the school's classrooms.
The flags will be received
by 36 youngsters who attend
the school for the mentally re-
tarded, while 600 other pupils
give the pledge of allegiance
to the flag and the school band
plays the National Anthem.
The JWV program will be
carried out by Rolland Gottes-
man, Department child welfare

the Lapeer Parents Group will
