Geraldine Stern, author and and speakers have been sched-

Mrs. Stern had her second

lery, and exhibited her paintings
in Los Angeles during the sum-
mer. She combined her trip
west with speaking engagements
in connection with her book in
Los Angeles, Chicago and Mil-
waukee.

The author-artist was born in
Milwaukee, attended Smith Col-
lege, moved to Los Angeles
where she married and raised a
son and a daughter. She now
has a studio in New York.

luncheon session at which she
will discuss her book, which
contains profiles of 13 women
who have come to Israel to live
from every corner of the earth.
Through these women's lives,
Mrs. Stern tells the story of Is-
rael itself, the struggles and tri-
umphs of the individuals and of
the new nation.
Dates for the Book Fair are
Nov. 22 to 24, at the Davison

discuss trends in Catholicism
and Protestantism as they ef-
fected the growth of modern
nations and national move-
ments. He will also bring in
the Jewish aspect of the prob-
lem."
Prof. Baron is the author of
a number of important books
in the field of religious studies,
including one of the same title
as the lecture he will be pre-
senting on Monday.
However, Dr. Spiro explains,
"Prof. Baron writes that he has
many fresh thoughts on the sub-
ject, and that the Jewish as-
pects have also further devel•
sped with him since the pub-
lication of his book. The audi
ence at this lecture will prob-
ably be the first, or among the
first, to hear his views on this
subject."
The lecture series is free and
open to the public. Judge Theo-
dore Levin will introduce the
guest speaker.
Prof. Baron, and the other
speakers in the series, will be
discussed this Saturday at 10
p.m., on the Council-Altman
Hour on WJLB.

Berry to Receive
Seminary Award

Louis Berry, president of
Cong. Shaarey Zedek, will be
in New York this weekend to
receive the Louis Marshall
Award of the Jewish Theologi-
cal Seminary.
The award, given to outstand-
ing lay leaders of the Seminary,
will be presented at the annual
dinner of the Seminary's Na-
tional Patron's Society on Sun-
day, at the Hotel Pierre.
Other national leaders also
will receive the award, which is
named for the late Louis Mar-
shall, noted constitutional law-
yer, who was chairman of the
Seminary board of directors
from 1904 until his death in
1929.
